Story Behind Our Jhajjar Pottery Diya:
Ram, our head artisan said: I have been working in this industry for the past 25 years, I learnt this craft from my father when I was 12. Being born in Jhajjar, crafting pottery runs in our blood. It has always been very close to my heart and I take a lot of pride in it. I used to admire my father when he used to spend long days at the wheel, shaping pots and matkas with his bare hands. This is a part of our culture and tradition. But sadly, kids no longer want to carry forward this legacy. I am worried that it might be lost to time one day! I always teach my kids to learn this skill, even though it doesn't bring a lot of money for us. To me, pottery is more than just my source of income, it is my family's legacy. It is my identity.
